Have you ever spent a night in worry and distress? I have. As the mother of ten children, there is always one of them with a concern that keeps me up at night. Although I try to turn my worries over to Jesus in prayer, the darkness around me makes the situation seem heavier and more oppressive. Yet after a night of discouragement, it’s often with the light of dawn that my heart fully understands that Jesus is present and can help in every situation.
Over the years, I’ve made a habit of meeting with Jesus with an open Bible in the morning. With the first rays of light, my soul rejoices at spending time with the Son of God. Because this is my very first act at the beginning of my day, I’m able to bring all the burdens I’ve carried through the night and drop them at the feet of Jesus. No matter how many concerns weighed on me in the dark, I’m able to take them to Jesus and leave them there, knowing He will intercede for me (Romans 8:34).
After all, Jesus has many more children than even I do.

Faith Step: What burdens do you carry? At this moment, make a list and take them to Jesus. Leave them with Him, asking Him to intercede and bring new light and hope into your heart for every concern. |
